Ninja Classes Ages 3-5 | Their First Class On Their Own

Little Ninja Classes Build Strength, Focus, and Confidence in Kids Ages 3 to 5

Little Ninja is the second tier of the Gold Medal Ninja program, built for kids ages 3 to 5 to train on their own, without a parent on the floor. In a room full of obstacle courses, low bars, and a warp wall sized just for them, your child starts building the strength, focus, and confidence that carries into everything they do next.

What Is Little Ninja?

Little Ninja is the introductory class in the Gold Medal Ninja curriculum for kids ages 3 to 5, where they learn the basics of all five ninja skill areas in their first independent, coach-led class. It is the step right after Ninja Babies, and the first time your child works on the floor without a parent alongside them.

Every class is built around the same five components used throughout the Gold Medal Ninja program: flips, bar skills, parkour, martial arts, and strength, all introduced at a beginner level for this age. Coaches rotate kids through these areas so no single skill takes over, and a typical class opens with a warm-up, moves through a few skill stations, and finishes with an obstacle course that lets your child put it all together in one run. That same format repeats week to week, which helps young kids know what to expect and settle in faster.

Along the way, your child climbs, swings, and balances on real equipment sized for them, including low bars, the ninja rig, padded obstacle courses, and a kid-sized warp wall. Just as important, coaches build in moments to focus, take turns, and try a skill again after it does not work the first time, which matters as much as the physical training at this age.

What Your Child Will Learn

Little Ninja introduces the five core ninja skills at a beginner level, so your child leaves each class having practiced something real. These are the building blocks they work on class after class:

  • Basic tumbling and rolling that build body awareness before any real flipping begins
  • Swinging, hanging, and simple transitions on low bars, using the ninja rig to build grip and upper body strength
  • Vaulting over soft, kid-sized obstacles and practicing safe landings
  • Basic punching and kicking drills that double as coordination and listening practice
  • Crawling, climbing, and short obstacle courses that build real strength, including a chance to take on the warp wall
  • The focus and patience to wait their turn, encourage a teammate, and try again when a skill does not click the first time

For kids ages 3 to 5, this is often the first place their energy has real structure and a clear goal to work toward. The focus and confidence they build here tend to show up outside the gym too, whether that is sitting through a longer story at home or trying something new without giving up right away.

Is Little Ninja Right for My Child?

Little Ninja is built for kids ages 3 to 5, right after they age out of Ninja Babies, our parent-and-child class for walkers up to age 3. By this age, most kids can follow simple two-step instructions, take turns in a small group, and separate from a parent for the length of a class. None of that has to be perfected first, though, because coaches build the class specifically for kids who are still learning those skills.

Your child does not need any prior gymnastics or ninja experience to start. Little Ninja is designed as an entry point, not a continuation of something they should already know. And if your child has more energy than most activities can hold, the rotating stations give them somewhere to put it while gently teaching them to focus that energy one skill at a time.

No evaluation is required to enroll, and if you would like to see how your child responds before committing to a full session, you can book an evaluation class at any location first. For a child who tends to be cautious in a new setting, coaches ease them in rather than pushing them onto a station before they are ready. Most kids warm up within the first class or two, once the room starts to feel familiar.

What to Expect in Your First Class

A Little Ninja class runs as an active, coach-led session from the moment your child walks in, opening with a warm-up, rotating through the five skill areas, and finishing with an obstacle course that ties it all together. That predictable rhythm repeats every week, which helps kids this age settle in and feel at home in the room faster.

Little Ninja is designed for kids to participate on their own, so you will watch from the viewing area rather than joining on the floor. This independence is part of what makes it the next step up from Ninja Babies. Coaches are used to easing in a hesitant child gradually rather than pushing them into a station before they are ready.

Have your child wear comfortable, flexible clothing without buckles or embellishments that could catch on equipment, along with sneakers with rubber soles. A water bottle is a good idea since classes stay active start to finish, and once enrolled, kids wear their level shirt to practice, available for purchase at the front desk.

Little Ninja Prepares Your Child For

Little Ninja prepares your child for Ninja Kids, the next tier in the Gold Medal Ninja progression. As your child works up the three medal levels (Bronze, Silver, and Gold), each earned by mastering nine skills, they build the strength, coordination, and focus to move on. Once they reach Gold, they are ready for Ninja Kids, where the obstacles get taller, the color level system begins, and the training grows right along with them.

Spots fill quickly, so find the closest location above and get your child started.
